Job Summary:
Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities.
VA experience preferred!
Responsibilities:
' Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses and stones.
' Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated.
' Maintain patient records in division.
' Charge procedures and supplies in RIS. Archive and de - archive ultrasound data.
' Ultra - sonographers; provide education and training to new sonographers. '
' Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
' Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OB - GYN procedures as required.
' Utilize accessory equipment such as selective transducers, multi - format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations.
' Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required.
' Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures.
' Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
' Act in a team leader or leadership capacity on an as needed basis.
' Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis.
' Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
' A certification from an accredited ultrasound / sonography school related field preferred.
' Prefer at least one year of experience as an ultrasound technician / sonographer preferred.
' Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
' Current BLS card.
' Current TB test or chest x-ray.
' Current physical exam.
' Successfully pass all employer screening exams with a score of 80% or greater.
' Must meet all of employer's pre employment screening requirements.
