REQUIREMENTS:
* At least 1 year of relevant experience
* A Pesticide License (have or obtain within the first 6 months)
* A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
JOB DUTIES:
* Perform skilled grounds maintenance and landscaping work to maintain grounds. * Use power equipment: mower, tractor, blowers, etc.
* Participate in the planting of flowers, bed maintenance, mowing and sweeping of campus grounds including operating all types of equipment applicable to job undertaken.
* Pick up litter as assigned.
* Apply herbicides and fertilizer.
* Prune trees, shrubs and ground covers to shape, curb growth and beautify areas.
* Prepare and maintain athletic fields: mowing, aerating, fertilizing and seeding.
* Prepare for special events.
* Clean stadium and line out section for athletic events.
* Clear and clean drainage system and improve grades to prevent erosion.
* Remove wind and rain damage to road and parking lot.
* Supervise and instruct work-study students, part-time help and community service in the accomplishment of all duties.
* Remove snow, ice and dirt from walks and streets.
* Maintain records.
* Perform operational maintenance on grounds equipment, such as fluid levels.
* Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
* Serve as a member of emergency crew.
* Perform all other related duties as assigned.
HOURS: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; actual hours vary depending upon need, not to exceed 1000 hours per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).
