Job Summary:  Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: USA-Oregon, Hillsboro
Job Description: Mechanical Engineers research, design, and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Responsibilities include development of system concepts, conducting design previews, performing system acceptance, and resolving design and implementation issues. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgment.
In this position, you will be providing Mechanical Engineer (ME) support to the Oregon HJL sustaining organization in support of Oregon Facilities and Services Team Safety, Reliability/Quality, Environmental, and Cost objectives. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Responsible for safety within area of influence
- Sustaining Mechanical engineering support for Hawthorne Farms, Jones Farm and Leased Buildings (HJL) including 6 Data Centers
- Responsible for the equipment information schedule and database management
- Learning MAXIMO CMMS maintenance program and Frontpage (Web page updates)
- Responsible for Facilities Management System
- Learning how to use and develop changes
- Life Safety Systems: Fire sprinklers, smoke detection and evacuation systems
- Documentation: AutoCAD drawings, Specifications, Equipment verification, Management and storage, Share drive info management
- Energy management: Tracking utility usage of facilities equipment and help develop energy saving strategies
- Responsible for assuring all equipment is properly documented by physical audit of our office, labs and data centers
This is a 2010 Recent College Graduate position. You must be a Recent College Graduate (within 18 months of receiving your degree) with a Bachelor of Science or Masters in Mechanical Engineering
You should possess a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical area.
Required:
The following minimum experience obtained through relevant job/internship experience(s) or class work
-1 yr Basic knowledge of mechanical and control systems
-1 yr Familiarity with mechanical systems including Industrial Controls, HVAC and support utility systems
- 1yr Hands on learning of the Seimens Apogee and Trane Tracer control systems
- 1 yr Hands on learning of all mechanical systems (Boilers, Chillers, pumps, compressed air, process vacuum, HVAC and controls) will entail mentoring with experienced engineers who will help develop better understanding of Facilities management
- Experience with Excel*, database entry and AutoCAD would be an added advantage
