Job Summary:
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree, and experience related to healthcare risk management, patient safety, and/or quality improvement are required.
* Minimum five to eight years risk control experience with proven track record of results.
* Capable of developing successful consultative relationships with a wide range of healthcare professionals and insurance executives.
* High quality experience identifying, developing and implementing healthcare focused enterprise risk management philosophy within a carrier, hospital or TPA environment.
* Value added experience includes nursing, radiology, social work, or other clinically related professions.
* Direct clinical healthcare experience
JOB DUTIES:
The Risk Control Consultant will function as a high level individual contributor within the regional Risk Control Team. The open positions can be located in California - San Francisco, Woodland Hills, and San Diego or Seattle, Washington or Lake Oswego, Oregon
The Risk Control Consultant is accountable for consulting with internal Underwriting operations during submission reviews, in order to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and refine pricing and product strategies.
The Risk Control Consultant is accountable for executing on site assessments with insured healthcare entities to identify potential liabilities via analysis of:
* Clinical policies and procedures
* Organizational structures and processes
* Communication patterns
* Claim history
* Legal and regulatory environment
Subsequently the Risk Control consultant will provide risk control educational services focused on; preventative strategies, creation of operational efficiencies, and integration of risk awareness into corporate decision making.
Further the Risk Control Consultant will monitor and contribute via project work to industry wide organizations and publications in order to maintain company as market leader while keeping current on emerging trends in the industry.

* Performs workplace/work site risk evaluation and consultative risk improvement services which may include large and/or special accounts of some complexity.
* Generates report of findings and risk control recommendations. Follows up with client for receipt of plan of correction.
* Controls loss exposure and costs, and ensures underwriting profit through client risk determination for underwriting.
* Assesses customer's program needs and develops and executes a customized strategy and supporting implementation plan.
* Partners with underwriting and other areas to provide information for risk evaluation and assessment.
* Makes recommendations on the development and implementation of risk control policy, marketing and business strategy.
* Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external business partners.
* Develops and conducts education and training programs for clients, and local, state, regional and national healthcare and healthcare-related organizations.
