Get to the details about a job:
Click on the JOB TITLE that appears on the list of jobs.

JOB DISPLAY:

Job Listing ID: This is the WorkSource Oregon Employment Department's identifying number for the job. You may use this number to inquire about the job.

Job Title: This is what the business calls the job. It may contain numbers or letters that the business uses to identify the job within their organization.

Application Deadline: This is the last date that the business is accepting applications for the job. Unless otherwise noted in the job summary, you should submit your application material to the employer by 5 o'clock on the date posted. If there is no date, the position will be available for you to apply until the position has been filled and will read "Open until filled". NOTE: Jobs listed with WorkSource Oregon Employment Department are for current or foreseeable future openings. Job Location: This is the general area that the work will be performed. Depending on the nature of the job, the duties might require travel. Review the job summary for further detail.

Date Posted: This is the date that the job was posted to the Working in Oregon job browsing web site.

Hours Worked Per Week: Displays the number of hours the employer expects you will perform the job's duties during the week. Depending on the nature of the job, the hours per week can vary.

Computer Skills: Indicates if computer skills are required, preferred, or not applicable (N/A) for the job.

Shift: Displays the general time of the day the job's duties are usually expected to be performed. The shift will be day, morning, and/or night shift. Shifts can also be rotating or split.

Occupational Skills: Indicates if occupational skills are required, preferred, or not applicable (N/A) for the job.

Duration of Job: Indicates if the job is part time, full time, or both part and full time and how long the employer expects the job to last. Jobs are classified as lasting less than six months or greater than six months.

How to apply for this position: Displays instructions on how to obtain contact information to apply for the job.

Job Summary: These are the details of the job. It may include the minimum requirements for the job, a description of the duties, and/or other significant information you can use to make a determination to apply for the job.

Job Classification: The job is categorized as this standard occupational code.

Experience Required: This the amount of experience in the job classification (or similar occupation) required by the employer.

Driver's License Information: This is the type of driver's license required to perform the duties of the job. If any driver's license endorsements are also required, they will be displayed below the required license type. Preferred driver's license and endorsements are also displayed in this section.

Types of Driver's Licenses:
  • Non-Commercial Drivers License: authorizes the operation of any vehicle that a commercial driver license is not required (except a motorcycle). Also authorizes the use of any motor home for personal use, regardless of the weight of the vehicle.

  • Commercial C Drivers License: authorizes the operation of any vehicle that is designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver, if the gross vehicle weight rating is less than 26,001 pounds and the person has a passenger endorsement. Any vehicle used in the transportation of hazardous materials, in quantities that require placarding by law, if the gross vehicle weight rating is less than 26,001 pounds and the person has a hazardous materials endorsement. Any vehicle that is owned or leased by, or operated under contract with a mass transit district or a transportation district when the vehicle is actually being used to transport passengers for hire, regardless of the number of passengers, if the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle is less than 26,001 pounds and the person has a passenger endorsement.

  • Commercial B Drivers License: authorizes the operation of any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). A person may not operate any vehicle for which an endorsement is required unless the person obtains the endorsement.

  • Commercial A Drivers License: authorizes the operation of any vehicle or combination of vehicles, except the person may not operate any vehicle for which an endorsement is required unless the person obtains the endorsement.

Types of Endorsements:
  • Hazardous Materials Endorsement: A hazardous materials endorsement authorizes the operation of any vehicle carrying hazardous materials that require placards.

  • Passenger Endorsement: A passenger endorsement authorizes the operation of: A vehicle designed to seat 16 or more persons, including the driver; any mass transit or transportation district vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers the vehicle is designed to carry, when the vehicle is being used to transport passengers for hire.

  • Doubles/Triples Endorsement: Authorizes the operation of any vehicle pulling double or triple trailers.

  • Tank Endorsement: A tank vehicle endorsement authorizes the operation of any tank vehicle carrying liquids or gaseous materials. A tank vehicle endorsement is not required for portable tanks having a rated capacity under 1,000 gallons.

  • Farm Endorsement: A farm endorsement authorizes the operation of any vehicle that may be operated or towed by the holder of a Class A or Class B commercial driver license, respectively, when controlled or operated by a farmer; used to transport agricultural products, farm machinery, or farm supplies to and from a farm; not used in the operation of a common or contract motor carrier; and operated within 150 miles of the farmer's farm. It does not allow the transportation of farm workers or other passengers. It does include vehicles equipped with air brakes and/or hauling hazardous materials.

  • DOT Medical Card: All applicants for an original commercial driver license or a commercial driver license instruction permit, including any upgrade, must present a valid medical certificate and medical waiver (if needed) at the time of license issuance from the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles.

[Return to Job List]:
Choose the [Return to Job List] link to go back to your most recent list of jobs resulting from your search criteria. At anytime you can choose any of the other search option links located in the grey search by menu list. If you have items in your Jobs Basket, they will not be lost by changing search methods.

[View My Jobs]:
Choose the [View My Jobs] link to go back to your My Jobs basket.

[Add to My Jobs]:
Choose the [Add to My Jobs] link to add the job that you are viewing to your Jobs Basket. Adding jobs to your Jobs Basket allows you to, at any time, view your list of saved jobs and / or print them out. If you have items in your Jobs Basket, they will not be lost unless you either print your jobs basket, empty your jobs basket, close your browser window, or are inactive for more than 30 minutes.

[Printable ListList & Print Job Info]:
Choose the [List & Print Job Info] link to print the job(s) that you have saved to your Jobs Basket. When printing your jobs basket, you should be prompted by your browser's print control center. If not, click either the print icon on your browser's tool bar or select File | Print. Once you have printed the printer friendly formatted page of your jobs, please click the link in grey at the top of that page to empty your jobs basket.

[Empty My Jobs]:
Choose the [Empty My Jobs] link to remove all of the job(s) that you have saved to your Jobs Basket. You may empty your jobs basket at any time. You may also later add the same job to your jobs basket again. If you have items in your Jobs Basket, they will not be lost unless you either print your jobs basket, empty your jobs basket, close your browser window, or are inactive for more than 30 minutes.

ICONS:

Self Referral Job = Self-referral job listing:
This icon identifies a job that is a Self Referral job. Meaning that you can obtain the contact information right here on the Working In Oregon web site. You must obtain the contact information before you can place a Self Referral job in your Jobs Basket.

Limited Duration = Limited Duration Jobs lasting 150 days or less:
This icon identifies a job that is a Limited Duration job. Meaning that the job may be full time, but is not a permanent job. It may have a limited number of days that the job will last.

Green Job = Green Job:
This icon identifies a "Green Job" job. Click the leaf icon for more information.

US.jobs = US.jobs:
This icon identifies the source of the job listing is "US.Jobs" Click the icon for more information.


LOCATION SEARCH

From the Location Search screen you can select one of 6 geographical "Areas", or one of several cities that are listed on that page. The cities listed represent that general area and it's surrounding communities. Some cities will have jobs that overlap with other cities and maybe be found by selecting either city. If your preferred city or area is not listed, please select the closest city or area to your desired location. If a city you once selected before is not listed, that means there are no jobs in our system for that general area.

JOB LISTING ID

Overview:
This search is for locating a job listing by the Job Listing ID Number. This search is especially helpful when you have printed your Jobs Basket and want to refer back to a Job Listing later.

CHOICES:

Enter Job Listing ID:  
In the "Enter Job Listing ID" text box, enter a job listing ID (seven digits long). Once entered, click the "Display Job" button to perform your job search.

BUTTONS:

DISPLAY JOB:  
In the "Enter Job Listing ID" text box, enter a job listing ID (seven digits long). Once entered, click the "Display Job" button to perform your job search. If found, the job listing will be displayed and you can then add it to your Jobs Basket.

RESET:  
To clear the "Enter Job Listing ID" text box, click the "Reset" button.



ADVANCED SEARCH

Overview:
This search will return a list of jobs within a selected occupational group, location, and/or jobs that exactly match your keyword anywhere within the job title and/or description. There are several choices you may use to narrow your search for jobs. You must specify some search criteria in order to make a valid job search, you can do this by selecting a occupational group, location, date, or specify a keyword of at least 3 characters.

CHOICES:

Occupational Group:  (optional)
From the drop down menu, select one of the thirty five (35) occupational groups that best represents the field of work in which you wish to search for jobs. (i.e. if you are looking for a job as a Carpenter, you would select the occupational group: 21. Construction) If you do not specify an "occupational group", your search for jobs will be in "Any Occupational group".


Location: (optional)
From the drop down menu, select one of the areas/cities that best represents the location in which you wish to search for jobs. (i.e. if you are looking for a job in Clackamas, you might select either the location "Portland-Metro" or the location "Oregon City") If you do not specify a "location", your search for jobs will be "Statewide".


Keyword: (optional)
In the Keyword text box you may type a complete or partial word or phrase that might appear in a job's title or a job's description. If you have not selected any search criteria in the Occupational Group, Location, or Limit by date choices, then you must enter some text in this Keyword text box.

Searching In:

  • Title:  Select the "Title" option, after entering your text in the Keyword text box, if you want to do a keyword search within JOB TITLES ONLY.
  • Description:  Select the "Description" option, after entering your text in the Keyword text box, if you want to do a keyword search within JOB DESCRIPTIONS ONLY.
  • Both:  Select the "Both" option, after entering your text in the Keyword text box, if you want to do a keyword search within both the JOB TITLES and the JOB DESCRIPTIONS. (automatically selected)

Search for jobs in a specific City/Location:  (optional)
Leave the Location drop down menu on "Statewide", then enter the name of a city in the Keyword text box and select the "Title" option to search for jobs matching that location.


Limited by Date:  (optional)
From the drop down menu, select one of the time limits to narrow your search. Only jobs listed and currently open, within the selected time limit, will be displayed. (i.e. If you wanted to see only jobs listed within the last week, you would choose "Last week" from this drop down menu.) If you do not specify a time frame, your search for jobs will include all jobs that are currently open.


Limit by Hours/Week:  (optional)
From the drop down menu, select one of 2 job types (either Part Time or Full Time) to narrow your search. All jobs that offer 29 or fewer hours per week are classified as "Part Time". All jobs that offer 30 or more hours per week are classified as "Full Time". If you do not specify a job type, your search for jobs will include both Part Time and Full Time jobs.


Show # Jobs Per Page:  (optional)
Unless you change this setting, your search results will show 20 jobs per page. If you would like to see more jobs listed per page, select a larger number (40, 60, or 100) from the drop down menu.

BUTTONS:

LIST JOBS:  
When finished entering your selection criteria, click the "List Jobs" button to perform your job search. Your results will appear on the screen in just a moment.

RESET:  
To clear, reset, or start your job search criteria over, click the "Reset" button. This will set all search criteria choices back to their original setting.


ERROR MESSAGES

There are 0 jobs that met your criteria:

The search system will look for jobs that meet ALL of the criteria you selected or entered. Try [New Search], then enter less criteria, such as selecting only one or two of the following:
  • Occupational Group
  • Location
  • Limit by date
  • A single keyword (or just the first three letters of a word)
  • If you are having difficulty, try the Occupational Group Search to view a sample of some job titles and descriptions. This may help you decide which keywords to look for.

    Tip: To see a quick list of all recent job openings, [New Search], then select Last 3 days or Last week from Limit by date drop down menu.

    No Criteria or Search Criteria Not Valid:

    The search system needs at least one piece of criteria to conduct a search. You may select a
  • Occupational Group
  • Location
  • Limit by date
  • Keyword of at least 3 characters.
  • If you are not sure what to search for, try the Occupational Group Search to view a sample of some job titles and descriptions. This may help you decide which keywords to look for.

    To see a quick list of all recent job openings, try selecting Last 3 days or Last week from Limit by date drop down menu.

    Job Listing ID Not Found:

  • The jobs database might be updating at the time when you tried to view a job. Try your search again in a few minutes.
  • The referenced job could have been modified or is now closed. Note: The job listings on this website are updated throughout the business day and every night.
  • It is possible for a job to appear in the morning, and then be filled in the afternoon. If this happens, the job will disappear from our website. Please contact the customer service counter to inquire about a specific job listing ID.
  • You may have arrived at this screen from another website. The other website may not be as current as ours. Try starting from our Jobs Page if you are having difficulty.

  • Job Listing ID Not Entered:

    The Search by Job Listing ID needs the order number.
    You may have arrived at this screen from another website, or by entering a web address on your browser. Try starting from our Jobs Page if you are having difficulty.

    Job Listing ID Not Numeric or Job Listing ID is invalid:

    The Search by Job Listing ID needs a 7 digit order number, without any spaces, letters, or dashes.
